This year, for the first time. St Andrews Winter Lights will include a spectacular fairytale makeover – a move BID St Andrews (Business Improvement District) say will wow local residents and help to attract more visitors.
The annual event led by BID St Andrews, in collaboration with Fife Council, the Common Good Fund, the Hamish Foundation and the levy paying businesses of St Andrews, will see South Street trees and a fairy-tale ceiling of lights on Bell Street included as part of the revamp.
This year the lights will be turned on from Friday 1 December and will still tie in with the traditional theme that residents and visitors have grown to love.
Alistair Lang, BID St Andrews Chairman, said: “This is such an exciting and magical time of year, for both our local residents and for those families who visit St Andrews to see the lights, year after year.
“We want our local residents and visitors, old and new to really experience the wonderful history and traditions of St Andrews in the best way possible.
“That’s why, this year our much-loved lights will be revamped to make them more spectacular than ever before.”
The improvements tie into BID St Andrews’ strategy and the BID levy payers’ commitment to improve St Andrews for the residents and visitors alike.
