A history of the adidas YEEZY BOOST
The adidas YEEZY BOOST line is a series of shoes designed by rapper Kanye West in collaboration with adidas.
The first model in the series was the YEEZY BOOST 750, which initially debuted on February 28, 2015, in NYC only. It was a mid-top sneaker in a grey/white colorway, and it was sold out within 10 minutes. A second release of the YEEZY BOOST 750 shoe saw the launch of an all-black colorway which hit stores on December 19th, 2015. It was followed by a grey/gum colourway which released on June 11th, 2016 - this release saw the addiction of a glow-in-the-dark gum outsole and featured improved materials such as higher quality suede and leather. The latest Yeezy Boost 750 “Light Brown” released on October 15th, 2016.
Released on June 27, 2015, the YEEZY BOOST 350 was Kanye West’s second model developed with adidas Originals. The limited release sneaker was exquisitely designed featuring beautiful yet simple materials. Primeknit, premium leathers, and a full length BOOST™ midsole were combined into a moccasin style construction that transcended current sneaker trends. The first colourway was a white and grey "Turtle Dove" color scheme, followed by an all-black "Pirate Black" version, an olive-green "Moonrock" version, and a light-brown "Oxford Tan" one.
The third model in the YEEZY line is the YEEZY 950 Duckboot, a cordura upper boot with suede details and a thick groovy sole. The shoe was released in all previous YEEZY colour schemes, including an additional "Chocolate Brown" variant, and was the most expensive YEEZY model so far, with a retail price of $585.
The most recent model in the YEEZY BOOST family is called the Yeezy Boost 350 v2, a low-top model most famous for its coloured stripe and the words “SPLY-350” on the upper. Originally released on September 24, 2016, its design is based on that of the YEEZY BOOST 350, with a few tweaks and changes. On November 23, 2016, three new colorways released: "Copper", "Green", and "Red". The "Core Black/Core White" version followed on December 17, 2016.
